How to make Kombucha

How to make Kombucha

Ingredients

A gallon of water that has been filtered

Eight bags of black tea

Four bags of green tea

One cup of sugar that is organic

One SCOBY (you can find them online or ask a friend for one).

One cup of kombucha (you can use the liquid that comes with your SCOBY or purchase raw, unpasteurized kombucha from the shop).

large, wide-mouth glass jar (I use one that is about the size of a gallon)

tea towel (tea towel available here)

big rubber band

Guidelines

1.Tea bags are added to hot water. After 5 to 10 minutes of steeping, take out the bags. Take off the heat.

Stir to dissolve the sugar after adding it. Let the tea cool.

2.Once the tea has cooled down, transfer it into your freshly cleaned glass jar.

3.Add approximately ½ cup of kombucha; you can use the liquid that comes with your SCOBY or raw, unpasteurized kombucha from the store. Put the SCOBY in the container using clean hands. (See if you can get a SCOBY online or from a friend by asking around. Within a week after receiving a small bit from a friend, it had taken over the jar.)

4.Tightly cover with a tea towel or two layers of paper towels utilizing a rubber band. While allowing it to breathe, you also need to keep insects out.

5.Jar should be placed in an area that is dark, warm, and unlikely to be disturbed.

6.Give your kombucha recipe a week or so to steep. Insert a straw into the liquid and place your finger over the top to test it. This will allow you to sample a tiny quantity by keeping it in the straw. Leave it a little longer if it's extremely sweet. It need to have a hint of sweetness, tang, and fizz. Start afresh if it tastes at all odd. Depending on the fermenting circumstances, it can take two weeks, but not much more.
